Media Release: $1 million for Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker roads

Over $1 million has been provided by the Australian Government to improve Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker roads.

Senator for South Australia Anne Ruston said motorists will welcome the undertaking, which will commence in the coming month.

“We all want less congestion on our roads and safer traffic conditions,” Senator Ruston said.

“The Australian Government is committed to improving local infrastructure throughout South Australia, under the Roads to Recovery program.

“This is a great example of different tiers of government working together to deliver tangible outcomes for their constituency.”

The Mount Barker District Council will receive $665,000 to widen Springs Road in Mount Barker and the Adelaide Hills Council will benefit from $420,000 to reconstruct proposed sections of Swamp Road in Lenswood with pavement that is suitable for long term heavy vehicle use.

The Mount Barker District Council contributed $335,000 towards their project and the Adelaide Hills Council provided $182,000 for their works.

The Alexandrina Council also received funding by the Australian Government to enclose unsealed roads.
