LIBERALS TO DELIVER BETTER HEALTH CARE ACCESS FOR WANNEROO
An elected Dutton Coalition Government will kick start the process for a new hospital in Yanchep to service the City of Wanneroo, by committing up to $1 million to fund a comprehensive business case.
Wanneroo is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, but access to health services has gone backwards under the state and federal Labor Governments. The nearest hospital at Joondalup Health Campus reached its worst ramping level on record at over 800 hours last year and the GP bulk billing rate in the electorate of Pearce has dropped by a staggering 20% under Anthony Albanese – the biggest fall in the country.
The Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Peter Dutton MP, who was in Yanchep for the announcement, said this commitment is part of the Coalition's plan to fix Labor's healthcare crisis.
"We are building on the Coalition's strong track record when it comes to health. Sadly, under Labor, Australia's health system – from hospitals to GP clinics – are buckling under growing pressures. Australians are now paying 45 per cent more to see their GP, as bulk billing has collapsed from 88 per cent under the Coalition, to 77 per cent under Anthony Albanese. That's why the Coalition has committed $9 billion into Medicare."
Shadow Minister for Health, Senator Anne Ruston said it was outrageous the state Labor Government had refused to provide these much-needed services for the Yanchep community.
"Labor has completely disregarded the people of Wanneroo and their need for timely access to critical hospital services. That is why the Coalition will fund a business case to kick start the process to deliver better health infrastructure for this rapidly growing community."
Liberal Senator for Western Australia Linda Reynolds said, "I'm pleased to see that our candidate Jan's strong advocacy for Pearce, along with mine over a number of years, is being supported by this funding for the Yanchep Hospital business case."
Liberal candidate for Pearce, Jan Norberger said, "Timely access to high-quality healthcare is one of the top concerns here in the northern suburbs. This funding will start the process to build a new hospital in Yanchep, so locals in that area don't have to drive for at least 30 minutes to seek medical care."
Only an elected Dutton Coalition Government will ensure that all Australians have access to quality healthcare, where and when they need it.
