Congratulations to my colleague Sussan Ley on her election as the Leader of the Opposition today.
I know that Sussan has the experience, understanding and conviction to lead our Party through this period of renewal, to hold the Albanese Labor Government to account, and to place us in a strong position at the next election.
Congratulations also to Ted O’Brien who has the proven skill to provide strong support as Deputy Opposition Leader.
I am also delighted that Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash continues as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and I thank my colleagues for their support in my continuation as the Deputy Leader. It is wonderful that Senator Wendy Askew also continues as our Senate Whip.
The Australian people need a strong and credible Opposition to fight for their interests, and they deserve a strong and credible alternative to the harmful Albanese Labor Government that will only continue to make life harder for them over the next three years.
I look forward to continuing to support our Party as part of the leadership team to deliver this.
