I’m honoured to have the opportunity to continue as Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, and to build on the important work of our last term.
As a business owner, primary producer and irrigator, born and bred in the regional community of Renmark, I will always advocate for vibrant and prosperous regional communities—and a competitive agriculture sector is the backbone of such communities.
Alongside Barnaby Joyce and Luke Hartsuyker, I’m excited to be part of a team that not only has a strong vision for Australian agriculture and rural and regional communities, but is putting in place the practical measures and real investment to realise that vision.
Coming from a Basin community, I understand the vital importance of managing Australia’s water resources efficiently and effectively, and with long-term vision.
The government will continue to deliver the water infrastructure that will support a productive agriculture sector, strong communities and a healthy environment.
We will be building on our already significant investments in water infrastructure with a $2 billion National Water Infrastructure Loans Facility. A new Regional Investment Corporation will be established to administer the infrastructure loans, along with our various concessional loans schemes for farm businesses.
I look forward to working with Barnaby and Luke to continue to deliver real results for Australia's agriculture sector and our rural and regional communities.
