Media Release: Ruston Honoured by Ministerial Appointment

Senator for South Australia Anne Ruston has been promoted to Cabinet in Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s new look ministry.

“It is a great honour to be appointed as the Minister for Families and Social Services in the Morrison Ministry,” Senator Ruston said.

“I look forward to the role, taking what I have learnt from previous responsibilities to this critical portfolio that touches the lives of so many Australians.

“The Morrison Government is guaranteeing the essential services that all Australians rely on.”

Senator Ruston was also appointed as Manager of Government Business in the Senate, succeeding Senator Mitch Fifield.

“It will be exciting to take up this mantle and work closely with our Coalition leadership team,” she said.

“We now have the responsibility to deliver our commitments which the country endorsed at the election.”

Senator Ruston was appointed to Parliament in 2012, becoming the only regional-based Senator in South Australia.

She previously held several senior positions in government and the private sector and was the inaugural chief executive of the National Wine Centre before owning and operating Ruston’s Roses, the largest commercial rose garden in Australia.
