Media Release: Renewable push for Mayo community organisations

Local community organisations are encouraged to apply for the second round of the Turnbull Government’s Solar Communities Program.

Senator for South Australia Anne Ruston said the initiative provides eligible groups with grants between $2,500 and $12,500.

“The grants can be used to install small-scale renewable energy systems including solar panels, storage batteries and solar hot water systems,” Senator Ruston said.

“The Turnbull Government recognises the important role community and household solar plays in Australia’s transition to a low emissions economy.

“The program will provide $2.2 million in grants to community groups in eligible regions across the country to undertake small-scale renewable energy generation and energy storage projects.

“I would encourage local Mayo organisations to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”

The program will be delivered by the AusIndustry Grants Hub, in consultation with the Department of the Environment and Energy.

Applications open today, Tuesday March 13.
