Media Release - Boosting sporting participation in the Hills

A new fit-for-purpose sporting changeroom was officially opened over the weekend.

Senator for South Australia Anne Ruston said the Adelaide Hills Hawks Football Club is exptected to see a boost to its female players.

“The new changerooms will allow the Hawks help meet the growing demand to play football in the Hills at all levels,” Senator Ruston said.

“With women’s football becoming more and more popular, it only makes sense to invest in these facilities to encourage young girls to reach their sporting potential.”

“The facilities will also compensate an immediate growth of junior numbers, with 50 additional players set to join this season. Transformative projects like these help strengthen our local communities.”

The Liberal National Federal Government, the Liberal State Government and the Adelaide Hills Council jointly funded the new changeroom.

The Liberal National Government provided $150,000 under the Community Development Grants program. Construction commenced in December 2018 and was completed earlier this year.
