Joint Media Release: Regional project given green light to develop better Gumeracha

Communities in Gumeracha will benefit from funding under Round 3 of the Federal Liberal Nationals Government’s highly successful Building Better Regions Fund.

Senator for South Australia Anne Ruston said the Liberal Nationals Government’s investment in local projects under Round 3 will help grow the economy and build a strong future for Australia’s regions.

“The Gumeracha Main Street Working Party will receive $232,000 towards the redevelopment of the town’s main strip,” Senator Ruston said.

“It is projects such as this that make our regional communities even better places to live and work, and I’m excited to see the positive difference this funding will make to the community.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Liberal National Government is committed to ensuring Australia’s regions remain strong, resilient and prosperous in the long term.

“Today’s announcement continues our commitment to unlocking the economic potential of regional Australia and ensuring our regions continue to thrive,” Mr McCormack said.

Georgina Downer, the Liberal Candidate for Mayo, welcomed the news.

“The project will benefit the Gumeracha community and is a great outcome for the organisation as they further develop Albert Street,” she said.

The funding will be used to construct rumble strips, two small paved areas and four gateway markers, plant low growing native greenery and install 55 advanced cherry trees, 16 new seats, three information signs and a number of public artworks. The total project cost is $464,000.
