Joint Media Release: Investing in local Henley sporting facilities

The Morrison Government will invest $382,200 in upgrading and improving sporting facilities in Henley Beach to help increase participation and get the local community more active, more often.

Senator for South Australia Anne Ruston said the Henley Sharks Football Club will receive a Community Sport Infrastructure Grant to undertake crucial redevelopments that will oversee increased participation rates.

“The Morrison Government’s investment will significantly enhance Henley and Grange Memorial Oval,” Senator Ruston said.

“Existing lighting will be replaced to meet AFL level standards, allowing additional teams and sporting codes to use the oval on a more regular and consistent basis throughout the entire year.

“The Morrison Government is able to make this important investment because of our responsible economic management that will deliver a budget surplus.”

Liberal Candidate for Hindmarsh Jake Hall-Evans welcomed the announcement.

“This is really great news for our local community,” he said. “I congratulate the football club for having the foresight to develop the oval to meet the growing demand of grassroots sport.”

“With women’s football becoming more and more popular, it only makes sense to invest in these facilities to encourage young girls to reach their sporting potential.”
