Senator relocates office to regional South Australia

The office of Senator for South Australia Anne Ruston has been relocated to the Riverland town of Renmark.

Senator Ruston is the only Senator with an office in regional South Australia.

“Having a regional office fulfils a commitment I made upon my appointment to the Senate in September last year,” Senator Ruston said.

“As the only South Australian Senator with an office outside metropolitan Adelaide, I’m looking forward to representing the interests of rural and regional constituents in this State.

“Under both Federal and State Labor, the concerns of people living outside of Adelaide have been sidelined and ignored.

“It’s high time Labor recognised the contributions rural and regional Australians make to our community I hope to give them a strong voice in Federal Parliament.”

Since her appointment, Senator Ruston has focused on a number of rural and regional issues including water reform in the Murray-Darling Basin, the impact of government cost recovery on horticultural exporters, the Senate inquiry into the Australian citrus industry and pushing for a rigorous national approach to managing fruit fly.
